About Raalhugandu
This is where it all started for me. My home break. The place that raised me and nearly broke me more than once. Raalhugandu is not for the faint-hearted. It’s the heaviest wave I’ve ever surfed. Super shallow with a garden of sea urchins waiting to mark you if you slip. There’s no channel to hide in no soft water to escape. Just reef and raw ocean energy. On smaller days it still throws power but once it hits 5.5 feet or more it becomes a mission. You earn every wave here.
There’s a left we call Padan a peak in the middle called Dhekiru and a right that breaks off Second Reef. Each one has its own rhythm and each one can punish you if you’re not locked in. The inside is unforgiving. You fall there you feel it. But I’ve had some of the best barrels of my life here. Mid to high tide with southwest wind gives you a fighting chance. Raalhugandu is home and home never goes easy on you.
