About Kandooma
Kandooma is one of the most polished right-handers in South Malé. It breaks just off the eastern reef in front of the resort and is exclusive to in-house guests. I’ve surfed it on small, clean days and when it was pushing double overhead. When a solid southeast swell wraps in with light northwest wind, this place lights up. The takeoff is smooth, but it builds fast and lines up through the inside where it can throw a nice little barrel if you’re in the pocket.
The wave has a high-performance feel. You get time to set your line, throw turns, and if you stall right, you’ll get a cover-up on the inside. The reef is sharp but manageable. On a good day, it runs for close to 100 meters, maybe more. Being able to paddle out from your room makes it even better. It’s not the rawest wave in the atoll, but it’s clean, fast, and one of the most reliable rights down here.
