About Foxys
Foxys sits on the outer reef past the island and works best on a solid southeast swell with light northwest wind. It’s a fast right-hander with a bit of attitude. The takeoff section gives you a clean entry, but once it starts running, it gets serious. I’ve surfed it when it was playful and clean, and I’ve also seen it turn heavy with just a bit more size.
The wave has a good shape on higher tides, and when everything lines up, you get a long, wrapping wall with a tight barrel on the inside. It’s not the kind of spot where you just float into it. You’ve got to commit early, especially if you want to make it through the end section. The reef’s sharp and shallow in parts, so you’ve got to be switched on.
It’s usually less crowded because of access, but when it’s on, Foxys is one of the better rights in this zone. Just fast, clean, and unforgiving when you mess it up.
