About Gurus
Gurus breaks off the eastern side of Gulhi, right in front of the island. It’s a sectiony wave that throws out both lefts and rights, but honestly, the left is what I come here for. With a decent south swell and some size, it starts to piece itself together, and the end section can really stand up. I’ve had a few good ones where it let me line up a clean finish, especially on higher tides.
The right is hit or miss. Sometimes it opens up and gives you something to work with, but most of the time it just fades out or bends weird with the reef. Still, it’s surfable if you’re just looking to stay busy. Gurus picks up more swell than a lot of the breaks in this area, and with a good northeast wind, it cleans up nicely. It’s not perfect, but it’s easy to reach, and when everything clicks, it can surprise you.
